9 WEEK – EDITORIAL MAKEUP WORKSHOPS
In this 9 week intensive workshop students will learn a variety of Editorial makeup skills, Included with a photoshoot at the end for their own portfolio. Students are to rotate as models and makeup artists to ensure everyone gets a turn. It’s important for aspiring makeup artists to sit in the models seat to understand the models comfort while they work. on the photoshoot day they can acquire a model.
Week 1: All about that Base: Students will learn how to prepare the base of a model/actors face. They will learn the different face shapes, eye shapes and to accentuate natural features of the face and also how to create illusions of different shapes using contouring and highlighting.
Week 2: Colour Theory: Students will learn all about colour theory within makeup artistry. The colour wheel, complimentary colours, Monochromatic, skin colours and undertones, Eye colours and more.
Week 3: Symmetry vs Asymmetry: When we think beauty we think symmetry but what if we introduced asymmetry into our looks. Asymmetry used correctly draws the eye to certain features and makes the look more intriguing. Asymmetry is also used for characters facial expressions in theatre makeup.
Week 4: Brow Blocking: Students will learn how to cover brows to give the appearance of having none. This technique is used in Theatre, Drag and Editorial.
Week 5: Graphic Liner: Graphic Liner is a great way to bring attention to the eyes and brows. Graphic liner is fine art work that needs both creativity and technicality.
Week 6: Object: Students will get to bring an item to either take inspiration or use within their look. They will use the techniques learned in previous weeks.
Week 7: Catch up: Students can take the opportunity to revisit anything they’d like to practice on.
Week 8: Face Charts & Preparation: Students will be given a brief on the wearable art and photography to plan an prepare their looks on Face charts.
